Alex Grindeland

Alex has been an improviser, actor, comedian, teacher, and an almost-daily-shower-taker for over 20 years. He has performed his one-man show at comedy festivals around the country. Today, Alex and his wife live in Jacksonville, Florida, where they perform every weekend at their improv theatre, First Coast Comedy.

Alex began performing improv when he was only 16 years old in the High School League at the original ComedySportz club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Later on, after graduating from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Theatre-Education, he worked as a high school theatre teacher for 3 years before ultimately setting off to Seattle, Washington. This is where he opened and led ComedySportz Seattle. Under Alex's leadership, this troupe of Seattle artists grew from a small nomadic improv group to a community of comedy performers with a dedicated fan base and a brick and mortar venue, housing two theatres.

In 2021, almost ten years after his move to Seattle, Alex and Madelaine moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where they opened First Coast Comedy. They continue to perform in multiple shows, practically every weekend of the year. For more info visit AlexGrindeland.com and/or FirstCoastComedy.com.

Madelaine Grindeland

A Jill of several trades and master of some, Madelaine has over 10 years of management, leadership, teaching and performance experience.

As one of the founding members of First Coast Comedy in Jacksonville, Florida, she performs in four improv comedy shows per weekend just about every weekend. Madelaine practically grew up onstage touring the United States with her musician mother. She has worked as a touring actor, musical theatre performer, and film actor. She’s also been teaching theatre for nearly a decade.

When she’s not performing or finding tasks to do around the theatre, Madelaine stays busy being the proud mama to Lucille Rose Grindeland, whose hobbies include running around, signing new words, and climbing on stuff she isn't supposed to climb on. Prior to this career, Madelaine has also been a professional wrestler (Google Vicky “The Captain” Dreamboat) and a 100 Ton USCG licensed boat captain. David Bogan

David Bogan, a former Marine, and die-hard Tom Petty fan, is an experienced improv comedy veteran. He has taught and performed many styles of improv comedy for almost 25 years. In 1997, David performed and taught at CSz Milwaukee - Home of ComedySportz. After 20 years, in 2015 he relocated to co-manage CSz Seattle - Home of ComedySportz. He then moved to Jacksonville Florida, where he is now a current performer, host, Educational Director and Roadshow Manager for First Coast Comedy.

He has performed in thousands of shows and has also taught a vast number of individuals, teams, and organizations the art of improvisation and how the skills that improv training introduces can be applied to life, play, and work. Some applications include comedy entertainment, public speaking, science communication, corporate team building, and helping to manage anxiety.

David has also designed and facilitated Applied Improvisation training for a diversity of companies and organizations. His workshops center on making communication more collaborative, supportive, and effective both in and out of the workplace. Such past and present clients include Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Dept. of Health and Human Services, Amazon, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, United Way, Hershey’s, and many, many, more.

Josh

Josh Johnson is an emerging comedic talent who brings energy, enthusiasm, and heart to his role in Crazy Comedy. Portraying Josh, a new cast member in the improv ensemble, he embodies a character with a desperate need to be liked and accepted. Fully embracing everything he’s learned in improv, Josh eagerly shares his newfound passion with his family—sometimes to their amusement, sometimes to their dismay. His character’s favorite phrase, “I’ve got your back,” echoes through the film, reflecting both his unwavering enthusiasm and his relentless desire to belong.

Though Josh’s acting journey began in high school theater, Crazy Comedy marks his return to the screen and his first film experience. The fast-paced nature of shooting the entire movie in one weekend was both a challenge and a highlight, pushing him to stay in the moment and trust his instincts as a performer. Beyond the film, Josh continues to hone his craft by performing at First Coast Comedy, where he thrives on the spontaneity and excitement of live improv. Comedy is more than just entertainment for him—it’s an outlet for self-expression, creativity, and connection.

When he’s not on stage or in front of the camera, Josh enjoys surfing and spending time with his family. As a father of five, he balances his passion for performing with the joys (and chaos) of family life. His love for comedy stems from a deep desire to express himself in the most authentic way possible, bringing laughter and energy to every project he takes on. Whether on stage or on screen, Josh is always looking for the next opportunity to make people laugh and have a great time doing it.
